Industrial Piercing Jewelry Design and Material

Industrial Piercing or sometimes called as scaffold piercing and construction piercing is any two pierced holes that are connected to each other by a straight bar. These two holes are connected with industrial barbells, typically from the other side of the helix to the other or the counter helix. In case you do not know what helix means, it is the ear cartilage or the rim. Pieces of industrial piercing jewelry are cautiously chosen for your industrials.

The common mistake of many is that they think that industrials are only for the ears but industrials can be done in many other body parts. Industrial barbells for instance can also be used for lip, tongue or belly button piercing. Industrial barbells are straight steel barbells with sphere-shape locks on each end; one side is enclosed while the other can be unscrewed and used as the inserting part to the ears. Some industrial barbells can be unscrewed at both ends and as one wishes, it can be replaced by other customized designs. There are many shapes available like triangles, cones, disk, cubes and cylinders. You can also choose colors that you want. Many manufacturers offer modified accessories for your industrials. Straight barbells are common but one can choose from many variations of designs. For example, instead of a straight and traditional barbell; play a little with your industrials by choosing a spiral barbell, a twist or middle finger, or maybe a diamond shaped surgical steel project bar.

It is best to use industrials made of titanium and surgical steel while on the healing period but once the healing is done, you can change your industrial bars into materials made of silver or gold. In addition, you can also use decorative designs like glass or acrylic. It is still recommended that you first ask advice from your piercer or physician before using other materials as you might be allergic to them. The material for your industrial jewelry has very specific make-up so you must take it into consideration before buying your jewelry. Never go for the design alone. It sure looks cool but be very careful. Choose the design and the material that is right for you, and lastly, take all the safety precautions if you decide to have an industrial piercing.
